What Do You See? ? Poem by J.J B. Torment

What Do You See? ?

Rating: 5.0

What do you see when you look at me.
A friend … a nice guy …. Someone who’s happy?
What if I told you what you see isn’t reality.
It’s a dream, a fairy tale, a fantasy.

It’s a portrait of in image that plays on tv.
Someone you can be comfortable with,
someone you could need.
A person that I cry for, a person I wish I could always be.

But if you could see the real me,
You wouldn’t stay and be my friend, you would leave.
You would run and hide, for its way too scary.
It’s a creature with a black tormented soul, and all that is bleak.

All the characteristics that no one wants to be,
God has so placed them all, unjustly upon me.
But like a criminal in a jail cell, they are trapped in one 6ft.
It has a door with only one way out, with chains, under lock and key.

But like a chainsaw that’s used to cut down a tree,
Every so often, it busts down the door, breaks lose, and becomes free.
Leaving destruction and devastation, from which everyone will flee,
like a hurricane that tosses boats around like toys in the roaring sea.

This is the curse I live with, it’s my dark identity.
As plain as the nose on my face, its my true reality.
This is the person whom I hope you will never see.
A person lost and alone …. Yes … alone…. indeed.
