What Does The Bible Say About Israel? Poem by Denis Martindale

What Does The Bible Say About Israel?

The ancient writings shared God's Word, His longterm promises,
Even God's prophets overheard of people truly His,
God's own possession for all time, the apple of His eye,
Meant to be holy and sublime, with grace in full supply.
Yet soon God's glory slipped away, until the Romans came,
And Israel fell into decay, a lion now made tame.

Yet God's Messiah left His Throne to live in Mary's womb,
Christ lived until He must atone, once dead, laid in His tomb.
And yet for Israel, life went on, until the Saviour rose!
Disciples found Christ's body gone! Where to? God only knows!
Pentecost proved God's holy start, the Church Age to provide,
Proclaiming still to every heart the Saviour crucified!

Today, God's plans Man can't deny, God's nation thrives somehow!
The centuries have all flown by, and Israel blossoms now!
