What If? Poem by Windsor Guadalupe Jr

What If?

What if I told you
That love is a mockingjay?
What if I told you
That hatred is a soulless tiger
That lunges at everything?
Would you believe me?
What if I told you
That your eyes are like windowpanes
Overlooking the callow gardens
Of foliages and deity flowers?
Would you believe me?
What if I told you
That I love you except because
I am enamored to you?
And that senescence had nothing to do
With the effervescence of my abstract
Desire?
Would you believe me?
What if I told you
That your hands are different worlds?
One – for holding an entity.
And the other, either for writing
Or sketching a picturesque
Heaven – the firmaments close to your being?
What if I told you?
What if?
Don’t answer.
