What If I'M Not Poem by Robert Mahoney

What If I'M Not

Everybody seems to know me
Better than I know myself
Maybe they all have ESP
Or think I am someone else
They all try to get inside me
Trying to break through my shell
But it's impossible

You all say I'm better than this, mmm
But what if I'm not? What if I'm not?
Ever thought that maybe this, mmm
Might be the real me? Oh, the real me?
I am not a saint, no, get the idea
Outta your head, i am a sinner
Maybe I'm not better than that

You've all got such high opinions
Built off of who I once was
Where'd you get such grand delusions
Come back to the rest of us
Don't try to sway my decisions
You cannot bring back what's lost
Cuz it's impossible

You all say I'm better than this, mmm
But what if I'm not? What if I'm not?
Ever thought that maybe this, mmm
Might be the real me? Oh, the real me?
I am not a saint, no, get the idea
Outta your head, i am a sinner
Maybe I'm not better than that

I am exactly what you see
It's not so complicated
Why do you think so highly of me?
Your thoughts are overrated
You say I'm so much better
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oohhh
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oohhh

You all say I'm better than this, mmm
But what if I'm not? What if I'm not?
Ever thought that maybe this, mmm
Might be the real me? Oh, the real me?
I am not a saint, no, get the idea
Outta your head, i am a sinner
Maybe I'm not better than that

Maybe I'm not
Maybe I'm not better
Maybe I'm not better than that
