What More Do I Need? Poem by Aidan Clevinger

What More Do I Need?

Father, here I am tonight,
I don't know how to start.
I know I've done wrong,
I've lived on my own so long,
Now to You I give my heart.

I feel Your Spirit come,
Finally, I'm freed!
Caught up in this moment,
What more do I need?

Spirit, thank You for this gift,
I know I've work to do.
Spirit, You're not done,
But I think that she's the one,
And I think she loves me, too.

Things might be much harder,
With another mouth to feed.
But as long as You approve,
What more do I need?

Jesus, comfort me tonight,
How could I stray so far?
Enslaved by my sin,
Ashamed of where I've been,
Bring me back to where You are.

For me, my Lord, you died,
And on the cross did bleed.
By Your blood I'm washed anew,
What more do I need?

Father, here I am again,
I hold on to You tight.
They say Dad's getting worse,
They're warming up the hearse,
Please, stay with me tonight.

With tear-stained eyes I praise you,
Though for his life I plead.
You never will leave me,
What more do I need?

God, they've got me now hooked up,
To murmuring machines.
I haven't got much time,
And it's time to say goodbye,
To earthly hopes and dreams.

I've fought all of my battles here,
I've planted all my seeds.
I'll soon be home with You, my Lord,
What more do I need?
