What`s In A Name? Poem by Peter Vealey

What`s In A Name?

Rating: 4.0

What`s in a name?
A cheap quip for a transitory moment,
Headlines to inform,
Or headlines to conform?
Age-old prejudices!
The now "venerable Venables",
To restore the "Great"
Back to Britain`s opium
Or will it be?
Insecurity at base control?
Vague Hague,
Unfair Blair,
You could almost
Believe all this nonsense.
Froth tittle-tattle of the everyday,
Politic.
The stuff of ordinary bias,
What`s in a name?
Well everything and nothing?
An open mind,
That`s something rare,
A blank sheet of paper,
I`ll send some ideas in a,
First-class stamp,
To the entire daily`s,
Ask them(in vain no doubt!)
To start afresh,
In a new millennium of hope.
