What’s Love? Poem by Dr John Celes

What’s Love?

The driving force of human beings, prime;
The bond of magic, when bodies entwine;
The rapture play that stood the tests of time;
The inebriety, scoring over wine!

Love’s born when minds alike prefer to act;
Love’s made when hearts that pine for solace meet;
Love’s potion works when sex heralds a pact;
Love’s touch brings hearts in unison to beat.

’Tis love that fosters sexes to come close;
’Tis love that plays in nuptial nights – accord;
’Tis love, when one prefers the beauteous rose;
’Tis love that made man, woman lovely – God.

Love rules the earth in everything we see;
Love makes the planet almost Paradise;
Love goads the sinner’s heart to weep freely;
Love clasps the special senses like a vice.

Love teaches children how to read and write;
Love glitters more than precious stones or gold;
Love lullabies a baby sleep at night!
Love nurses babes unwanted, left in cold.

Love paid the price in blood for mankind’s sins;
Love makes much more than any sumptuous feast;
Love changes mind and heart, finally wins;
Man without love is worse than any beast.

Love’s wonder works better than any balm;
Love’s cry can reach the deaf, the dumb and blind;
Love’s tempest promises a mighty calm;
Love soothes the wounds of hearts and every mind.

Love unites hearts that stayed apart for years;
Love keeps a soul awake till love returns;
Love makes the father forgive son who nears;
Love lights the pyres; fills to brim the urns!

Love blows the trumpet noise to start foreplay;
Love brings the bodies in orgasm’s way;
Love plays a mighty role in earthly stay;
Love’s price, a life-time’s labour can’t repay!
