What’s The Use Of…? Poem by Dr John Celes

What’s The Use Of…?

Rating: 2.8

What’s the use of immense beauty
When beauty isn’t even skin-deep?
What’s the use of one’s intellect
When from vices, you cannot keep?

What’s the use of a newer dress
When moths have made their ugly holes?
What’s the use of your earthly life
When goes amiss your heaven’s goal?

What’s the use of amassing wealth
When there’s no peace and love at home?
What’s the use of your body’s skin
When in winter, you can’t keep warm?

What’s the use of knowledge profound
When good character, it can’t mould?
What’s the use of siblings many
When hatred grows while all grow old?

What’s the use of achievements tall
When love you cannot your neighbor?
What’s the use of medals, trophies,
When heart and mind can’t be kept pure?

What’s the use of reaching the moor
When wearied by walk in hot sun?
What’s the use of discoveries
When Nature’s furies stay with man?

What’s the use of science and research
When you can’t move closer to God?
What’s the use of God’s endless love
When you can’t reach Maker’s Abode?

After reading this poem one should really give up all his or her bad thoughts or deeds. A highly philosophical poem.

Whats the use.... so many questions and so few answers but one... if we dont try we dont even have a chance... Whats the use of the next breath if we dont want to try and make something happen... Alison
