What The Organiser Said To Dino Poem by Francis Duggan

What The Organiser Said To Dino

He said your angry verses we do not wish to hear
'Tis only poets and poetesses to read their poems are welcome here
You write with so much crudity your verses are slipshod
You insult some great people and you even insult God.

You should go to the local pub friday is their doggerel night
The clientele there rough around the edges they might think your verses are alright
Here it is invitation only and you we did not invite
Our famed poetess known as Poetry Goddess is reading here tonight

We see rhyme as outdated it belong to another time
And there is such a big difference between a poet and a man of rhyme
As you should know poetasters in the many and poets are only few
Here 'tis by invitation only and we did not invite you.

That's what the organiser said to Dino at the local Poetry Club
So he will be reciting his verses on friday evening at the Pub
Where it is not invitation only there you just do your own thing
And where you will be applauded if you dance, recite or sing.
