What We Held Sacred Died Poem by Etebom Ekpo

What We Held Sacred Died

Feelings are not always true,
But hope keeps the soul alive.
Vision makes known an opportunity,
Determination is the chariot that never goes weary.

We held our believes as sacred,
And we were driven at the edge of feelings,
Dreams; Yes, we dreamt to grow together,
But suddenly, what we held sacred died.

My world has come to an end,
Life is a wall made of bricks of illusion,
Yet, in a moment, vision made opportunity known,
Determination is the fuel for the journey.

I have just realized how many years hav wasted,
Yet, I know that the going must keep going.
What we held sacred for seven years died,
O! , I thank God that am a free single at last
