What Wish Do You Seek? Poem by Nick Patrick

What Wish Do You Seek?

Lying in wait, watching the night sky
I want to move closer, I try, I try
My knees are moaning for unity
Of our spirits to join in community
A star is shot, I do not notice
What is it you sought? My blue lotus?
What did you wonder with your singular wish?
The reasons I speculate, they are all selfish
To join me in my ultimate quest?
The stars are laughing at me, having a jest
At my foolish soul, my plagued sense
My cloudy fortune, my wall of defense
Reminiscent this thought is of powerlessness
I must say all to you, I must surely confess
Of my desires, my aches to be so much with thee
I am stuck on you, most graceful emcee
