What Would You Do? Poem by Amanda Wolfe

What Would You Do?

What would you do if I ran away,
if I took my life,
and I had gone astray

What would you do if I hid myself,
if I was looking for love,
and I was stuck on a shelf

What would you do if my pain had no end,
if my tears just kept falling,
and I was unable to mend

What would you do if I was ready to break,
if I was lost and tired,
and I was feeling so fake

Would you hold me close and hug me tight,
or leave me alone on this dark cold night

What would you do if my heart gave up beating,
if my hope had run dry,
and my life held no meaning

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this one night when I was sleeping over at a friends house. The two of us were unable to sleep and we didn't want to wake our other friend up so we both got our journals out and started to write. She unexpectedly whispered a question that started 'What would you do if...? ' and that sparked this poem. Its one of the first poems I have writen and I based it off of the feelings felt by those who are lonely and depressed.

Yes, Amanda, a very good effort for your first poem. As you read poems your skill will abound. Read mine - The Bloom of Youth - Adeline
