When Eternity Ends... Poem by Bancroft Boreland

When Eternity Ends...

When eternity ends
And the sun is cold
What happens to our bodies our souls?
When eternity ends
And all the stars have fallen
Will there still be a paradise, a heaven?
When eternity ends
And the wind is breathless
Will there be no light
In the universe’s perpetual darkness?
When eternity ends
Will all that was and all that is
No longer be?
Will there be no future?
Will there be no happily ever after?

How long is forever?
I cannot tell
But finite is this world in which we dwell
No one truly knows how long forever will last
I fear that our greatest fears
Shall one day come to past
It is a mysterious world in which we live
We know not when it started
We know not when it ends

All these questions I ask
Is there no one to answer me?
When eternity ends
What then, tell me, what happens then…?
