When God We Choose

Truly content, is none on earth
However much we try
Even the few with second birth
Are often seen to cry

Our flesh can never please the King
Though clean it as we may
However sweet the song we sing
However much we pray

We need our bodies filled with Light
With Jesus’ Holy Flame
True knowledge, God’s eternal sight
That glorifies His name

The wisdom of Salvation’s cross
The strength we draw from high
True grace to suffer every loss
The strength for self to die

For die it must if God’s to give
Life’s breath to hearts of stone
It needs to die so Christ can live
Inside of flesh and bone

No self will serve The Lord in truth
No flesh of mortal man
Our wayward hearts are so uncouth
We’d foul Salvation’s plan

But God can see the lives at stake
Through grace and selfless love
He gave Himself our souls to wake
To seek true life above

We’re not our own as some have thought
We’re Jesus’ chosen bride
And when through faith our robes we’ve bought
We’ll join our Groom inside…
