When Happy Thoughts Make You Sad. Poem by Anita Clark

When Happy Thoughts Make You Sad.

Rating: 5.0

You wouldn't think it would,
But somehow always does,
Cast a tear, to the person, that you'll always love,
You don't think it should,
But it always will,
Bring a tear, to those so dear,
The memories are still.

The comparison is just so great, from healthy until ill,
And all those memories you start to hate, are those that bind you to;
Drop a tear, remember,
What now withers, was so pure,
Like a snowdropp flower,
You moved so quick into the blue,

Everytime I smile, at the memories I hold,
A tear will dropp into my hand,
You're precious just like gold,
But when I see you now,
It's just so hard to do,
To scrape a smile onto my face,
Like once was to easy to.

I don't want you to be upset,
- You must be bad enough,
Seeing someone that you love, who can't smile to cheer you up,
It's not that I don't try, not that I don't care,
But you should know I love you with every strand of hair.

And when you go, I will still cry, at memories which cheer me up,
They should make me smile, make me laugh
The tears that dropp from love.

A poem about my grandfather who is currently being eating away by his cancer.
