When I Poem by Jim Boone

When I

Was hip and cool
I was excessive –
You dig?

There’s a thin line
Between what’s cool
And what sucks

Sometimes they are
One and the same
With a different
Point of view.

When I refused to
Learn life’s lessons
I was kept in detention
Stayed far too long
Repeated mistakes and
Washed the wrong ones
Out of my fingerful hair.

When I came full circle
There was a new beginning
Packed full of surprises
With a ticket to ride
And lots of living to share.
