When I Die Poem by Jennifer Parks

When I Die

When I die, give me back to the earth
to reside for eternity.
May I be one with the land I love;
the flowers, plants, and trees.

Turn my remains to ashes, dear,
and till them in the ground.
Plant a tree in that upturned soil,
with a fence to circle ‘round.

Upon the fence, drape honeysuckle
with perfumed scent so sweet,
and here I’ll finally be happy, love;
where the earth and sky both meet.
