When I look at you
and you're smiling
it feels like everything in the world
is right and I don't want
to be anywhere else
but in that moment with you.
When my eyes meet yours
and we laugh
I feel all my heartache melt away
and know that this is perfection,
but it isn't.
Those eyes belong elsewhere
and your smiles are reserved.
They're mine to see
not mine to feel
and I wonder how something
so beautiful, so wonderful,
will be the same thing
tearing my heart apart.
