When Inferiority Becomes A Priority Poem by Josephine Chifundo Likoya

When Inferiority Becomes A Priority

People around talk and laugh
It's always about you
The hatred deep inside with no real reason
A feeling of low self-esteem taken as most important

Finding every little thing to talk about others
Knowing the success gap between is too wide
Cheating yourself, you can't reach that far
You can't bear seeing them blessed
Everything they say, do is negative to you
Calling them all sorts of wicked names
Trying to make yourself feel happy

Sometimes you feel really sad
You convince yourself
Talking negative things about others will make you happy
Why do you end up crying?
Why are you hating yourself even more?

You do evil things
Hoping to get morale from those around
You seek attention by doing bad to innocence
You hurt yourself in the process
And hate yourself even more

Little do you realize
Spending your time judging others' success and failures
Promotes you to a caretaker of inferiority feeling
You wonder same people still get a lot
They are favored because they concentrate
They work hard and value their time
