When Is Death Welcome? Poem by Rm. Shanmugam Chettiar

When Is Death Welcome?

The final phase of human life
Will give you a chance to look back
At the cavalcade of events
And the experience in life.

How irrational you had been!
How emotional you had been!
All chivalry things you have done
Would appear mere mockery.

‘My days are numbered; I won't be
With you; I've nothing to offer;
Nothing to preach or to expect.'
Said Buddha when he became old.

That all things are evanescent
Will enlighten you to behave.
Bundles of regrets will get rest.
Death with no rebirth is welcome.
