When love came knocking on your door,
what is it that you were waiting for?
Were you wondering if it was for real,
when its purity you could always feel?

Were you gazing for those charming looks,
often described in romantic books?
Were you longing for gentle words that please,
but as ephemeral as the passing breeze?

Were you blinded by the worldly traits,
of caste, creed and hollow faiths?
Were you thinking for your kith and kin,
who dont understand your dreams within?

Were you deafened by your inner fears,
while tender hearts shed burning tears?
Were you worried about the unknown fate,
not thinking for once that it could be great?

While you wait and waste your day,
the knocks are slowly fading away.
And once it stops with a broken heart,
two tender lives will be torn apart.

No sooner than you realise,
your life becomes a compromise.
You adorn your face with a bogus smile,
while you are feeling hollow all the while.

But in life, alas, you'll always regret,
a haunting question you'll never forget.
When love came knocking on your door,
what is it that you were waiting for?
