When The Heart Bleeds Poem by Tondana Fatimah Seebaway

When The Heart Bleeds

When the heart bleeds
In pain for what it's lost
The mind pleads
In vain, O heart grieve not
I'll do all that it takes
To regain that which you've lost

In desperation the heart yearns
For the return of the lost treasure
And days and months seem like years
As mind embarks on this adventure

Heart wears the broadest smile
As mind totally worn out draws nigh
But suddenly lets out a sharp cry
As the treasure came back not with mind

Heart wails in anguish totally broken
And mind lays a hand on heart for consolation
While gently patting his back and says
Your treasure is happier in a new place

By your side it no longer wishes to stay
Not a second not to even talk of a day
Though it enjoyed each moment
It spent with you, it claims

These words stab heart like
A dagger right into his core
As he comes to terms with reality
And accepts his misfortune as destiny

Mind urges heart to move on
And put what happened in the past
And counsels him to trust God
To mend his wounded heart

For when you lose a thing
You gain that which is better
A beautiful design by the creator
So beseech Him through patience and prayer
