When The Last Poem by Francis Duggan

When The Last

Us humans are guilty of an environmental crime
We have been polluting our Earth Mother over decades of time
To the future generations of human beings we are not leaving a legacy of joy
On abusing our Earth Mother our own selves we will destroy
When the last human being from Planet Earth has gone
Some forms of life will be bound to live on
Us humans have caused so much extinction of species of wildlife over centuries of years
From this lessons have not been learned and no shedding of tears
The Earth that does feed us we abuse every day
And for this eventually Nature will surely make us pay
For every old growth tree we have needlessly removed and for our every poisonous toxic spray
What we do to our Earth Mother to our own selves we do only true for to say
When the last human being from the World has gone
The Earth will survive without us and other life forms will live on.
