When The Rains Come In India Poem by Navarun Mallick

When The Rains Come In India

When the rains come in India,
The breeze is cool, the skies are dark,
Lightning illuminates the sky,
As thunder is heard afar.

When the rains come in India,
Children start to appear on streets,
Fleets of paper boats appear,
Before the water them tears.

When the rains come in India,
Crowds of people rejoice,
Letting the droplets fall on them,
Wetting clothes and hems.

Some are happy, some are sad,
When the rains come in India.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was inspired to write this poem in school while reading 'On Being Indian' by Ruskin Bond. This is a slightly modified version, as the original was lost somewhere.
