When Two Become One Poem by Tabraze Rasul

When Two Become One

A rasping tremulous breath
Reigning in the galloping beat
Of a delirious, manic heart.
My hand scans the texture
Of your vulnerable skin,
Like brail I read you.
I read your trembling lips.
They sing angelic hymns,
As I remind myself of your
Eyes of autumn splendour.
But your lids like an oyster
Greedily hides such pearls.
Hair stands on end…
Silence deafens me…
My head on the swells
Of your chest, I hear
The hum of your poem
I run my nose through
The rivers of your black hair.
I take in your morning due, amorous.

We take into each other, my fears gone
When mortals two, become immortal one
