When Will You Take The Bait? Poem by Patrick OBrien

When Will You Take The Bait?

The world is full of hate,
But when will you ever take the bait?
I sit here in my satin chair,
Waiting for her to help make my heir.
She will never arrive,
For she is not alive.
Many, many years she was ago killed,
My dear and near Mathilde.
My friend could not stand our love,
And swooped down on her like a little white dove.
He took her far, far away from me,
And made me think it could never be.
I sooned believed what he made me think,
And all was gone in a single blink.
My hate for them has grown strong,
So strong it's almost wrong.
Will they take the bait,
Of MY hate?
