When you came into my life
it brightened up my day
some doldrums faded quickly
the rest I threw away;
Over Mexican food we chatted
about some ordinary things
past loves, the present
the hurt that love can bring;
The music we liked, the books
best friends and relatives
movies that we loved or hated
comfort that a love can give;
Places where we want to go
the spots where we had been
which we enjoyed so very much
we'd like to go back again;
When you came into my life
my life was on the wane
I feel I have survived
finally free of pain.
