Some Things That I Have Known. Poem by dave lessard

Some Things That I Have Known.

Rating: 5.0

I will take this moment
and make it all my own;
mine alone to share
of the things I've known.
Like the wonder of our being
like the sunshine after rain;
that gives the air new scent
that in our minds, remain.
Like hearts that brim with love
of ones that we hold dear;
like friends that give us joy
and fill our souls with cheer.
Like the glow of morning light
or the sunset of a day;
that lingers in your thoughts
and takes your breath away.
Like the magic of a child
that grows before your eyes;
like the whisper of the wind
that sounds just like a sigh.
I've taken but a moment
to make this poem, my own;
sharing it with you
some things that I have known.

I'm surprised your works haven't been published in book form. They certainly need to be.

Dave, I enjoyed your poem very much. I liked the repetition of the initial phrase, which made it more powerful. Well-constructed. Well-written.

This is magnificent writing. The rhyme-scheme is processed with success and the lines are a pleasure to read. You have done quite well here.
