Whenever Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Whenever

Rating: 4.3

Whenever

Though myself a chicken
Hate the hens and pigeons.

Remember that Ahmad,
My older brother,
Went to farm and returned.

With him had twelve eggs
Laid by some partridges.

At home we, had a hen,
Wishing to be mother
With its chest feathers.

She, dumb and brainless
Surrogate was to eggs.

On hatching, the babies
Felt loss of freedom
Hated life as slaves,
Few ran, went away
To find their freedom.

The rest were arrested
And put in wooden cage
Together with mother.

Chicks grew, mother's size
But great and handsome.

Came a distant cousin
Purchased four, paid money.

Years are gone and still
I keep their memories.

Whenever see chickens
Hatch in cage, to funnel.

Whenever see riots
For sake of freedom.

Whenever meet Natives
In Reserves' miseries.

Whenever shake hand with
One or more refugees…

In any encounter
Whenever, wherever,
I wonder and question:
"Did those that ran away
Find life with freedom? "

Comes to me a French
Writer, philosopher:
"Life exists as does shit! "

We are born, not by will,
In borders, faiths, beliefs!

I want to live free
Like chicks of partridge.

I vote for "Live free, "
I hate walls, boundaries
Let others cause me harm.

I am deep sea, ocean
From bed to my waves
Love to seek "Freedom."

I follow Jean-Paul Sartre:
My life is to give, share,
Will end it if in cage,
"Such a life is worthless! "

I have come by force and
Live here by force and
My name is imposed and

Want to choose and select
An ending that matches
With my will, interest.

You borrow a childhood memory to pose a question: did the escaped partridges lead a free life thereafter? It shows that you often raised questions about freedom while you were growing up? How can we be free? Is freedom given by fate? Do we have to seize opportunities to be free for ourselves? A 10 for conveying a child's questioning thoughts!

Beautifully put. We want freedom! We want freedom! We want freedom! This we must go tell it on the mountain That we all want to drink from life' s fountain Not be tethered in chains like Django We would rather live and die in the jungle Than live in perpetual bondage Our lives not free but mortgaged Sir, thats my bit. Lets collaborate abd see where the new poem leads us. If you please
