Where Is My Mother Now? Poem by Shalom Freedman

Where Is My Mother Now?

Where is my mother now?
Perhaps nowhere
Perhaps where only G-d knows
I don't know
My mother was such a good and loving person
And died before she died
For eight long years in a chair unable to speak
Except ‘One- two' ‘One- two'
Will anyone remember her
When I and my sister die?
Will anyone know the story of her struggles
All those long hard years
Or know her small enjoyments
Or the secrets of her mind?
Where will we be then also?
So good so kind so loving
My mother
Where is she now?
The kindest the most loving to me of anyone who has ever been in my long life
Where is she now?
