Where Is The Girl With... Poem by Kadence Luneman

Where Is The Girl With...

Where is the girl with golden hair
Her hair so soft and long
For all the town just cannot bare
To go without her song
Where is the girl with ashen hair
Her hair darker than soot
Of all the town does no one care
Where she might wander off afoot

I agree with my friend Fabrizio this poem is both musical and meaningful. It is essentially two statements the second contradicting the first, or rather the second showing an opposite side of reality to the first, both sides are definitely presented as real in their own right. This illustrates what John Keats meant by a poet's NEGATIVE CAPABILITY, and the poem is so concise that the two halves are fused. I can't really add anything so I'm just blathering on to show my appreciation.

I've to thank you, Kadence (BTW, I like your name.. with its own musicality) : after reading your poem, I decided to post that poem of mine which I hinted to, in my previous comment (''ASHEN HAIR'') - a poem that my dear friend Daniel Brick liked very much.. So I'm glad to let him know of your poetry also.. :) A big 'CIAO' from Italy Fabrizio

I like this poem of yours. It is well penned and concise. It has its own deep musicality, as well. Maybe it is also because ''ashen hair'' remember me one of my own poems and -most of all- because it echoes a wonderful poem by one of my favourite poets, Paul Celan.. Thanks for sharing, Kadence. greetings Fabrizio
