Where Is The Love? Poem by Billy Thompson

Where Is The Love?

Rating: 5.0

To the singer, Donny Hathaway and all those who haven't found it.

'Seeing is believing', was once true
Today those very words are no clue
To the falsity that they now ring out
Lord, God, I want to scream and shout
The world is so full of misguided misconceptions of what once was and never will be
I too was once a dreamer and then I became free
Free of the chains that bound my innocent mind
Too shackled to realize the true meaning of the word mankind
If I knew, like they knew, that I was not included in that group
Maybe now I would be in on the scoop
Perhaps I would now be ahead of the game
But without the rules being posted, it's not the same
I’ve lost my turn and have been skipped
No wonder I encounter so many dips, twists and downward spirals
Getting left behind all the while, and in the mean times
Brother’s keeper
Loser’s weeper
Momma’s baby
Daddy’s maybe
All are projections of lies and innuendoes
All have become words depicting enemies or foes
Where Is The Love?
I remember that song
Donny Hathaway once sang that with Roberta Flack
I guess Donny never found it neither
He was found lying dead on his back
Thrown from a window or perhaps jumped, it doesn’t matter
The sound of the window was still the same crashing clatter
…of death

True love we get from God. We search for love in material world but this is temporary. God is truth. Apart from him rest things are false projections. A brilliant poem is excellently penned...10
