Where There Was Darkness Poem by Fiona Burgess

Where There Was Darkness

Where there was darkness
A song could be heard
Faintly, just a murmer really
Where there was darkness
A whisper of joyful voices
Came through the silence
Where there was darkness
A gentle glimmer of light
Snuck under the door
Where there was darkness
Shadowy figures appeared
Their movements stiff
Where there was darkness
A hand was extended
Murky in the gloom
Where there was darkness
White teeth gleamed
In a welcoming smile
Where there was darkness
My tears shone like pearls
As they dripped to the floor
Where there was darkness
So hope came shuffling in
Hand in hand with love.
