While You Are Walking Out One Day Poem by Colin Breck Boardman

While You Are Walking Out One Day

While you are walking out one day
You may find along the way
Through the sunny flowing fields
A glowing beauty fresh reveal'd;
And you may notice all around
Curious flowers which there abound
Scattering your path with pale petals
(Amongst the nasty stinging nettles)
Which 'pon your face a smile will bring
In rainbow colours which seem to sing
With thoughts of happiness and joy
(Without a stark strategic ploy) .
And if one day you were to spot
The small but sweet 'forget-me-not',
Reflecting stars that sit up high,
Up high within the azure sky,
In quiet blooms of saddest blue,
Forget not that it thinks of you.
