Whisper On The Wind Poem by Alexander Hale

Whisper On The Wind

The words i'd been hiding for days
escape from their iron clad cage and into the silent night
I watch them as they flow from behind my lips
unable to stop them or slow them down

I look into his eyes and watch
as my words sink in he becomes rigid
I hear myself saying the words I know he's not ready for
and I beg myself to stop

But the floodgates of my heart refuse to be closed
it won't be silenced by my mind
Knowing that my heart is headed for trouble
I close my eyes hoping to miss the crash

But before I do I look into his lake blue eyes
and see a secret hidden in time.
Sounding like a whisper on the wind
he says I love you too.
