White Doves Poem by Justin Zahn

White Doves

Damn! Damn! Worthless thought.
For now finding it hard to understand
anything...
if anything at all.
For see, how can white doves
in the presence of a red moon,
seem blacker than the night sky?
For see, how can those full of love,
when departed from their half,
feel more alone then the lonely themselves?

For with these...
these white doves,
remorse finds way
to follow at their heels.
For in their presence,
when eyes do lay upon them,
the 'center of man'
may find itself missing a beat...
Worries do pass and
turn to ash,
for those white doves
sure can sing.
For in their presence,
life soon finds,
to much surprise,
glory filled meaning.

But when drift these white doves do
in the presence of the red moon,
in the black they travel
leaving only an echo.
Now sinks back,
'the center of man',
to a place farther than
the lonely of a lonely man.
Memory of visit
still fresh in mind.
Missing those white doves
even more each time.
With each visit
doth the loneliness grow.
So leave thee with this,
be it better to be lonely
or to be alone?
