Whitney Poem by Adrianne Quinlan

Whitney

As the star that fell
Across the night,
Endowments
Fragile as sparkle light,
Dropped, dripped, bled.

Yellow star, vivid bright,
Glowing amber, as the light,
Blooming blood-red
Rhodium fading to lead

Her own worst enemy,
She had her moment
Always loving,
Bringing us a twinkle of light

How hard we fall!
Flag of 48 stars blink
Grace to disgrace
Her crimson sun sinks.

Closing stages shade to black.
Leaving this void
Never looking back
Taking his lead, perhaps,
Her final day has been revealed.

And so she left us,
In a twinkling,
As she once shined,
Leaving her future behind.

Amazing imagery and metaphor….the contrast of cosmic symbolism upon the mundane spinning of our puny earth….. You managed to bring the tumultuous galactic events to life….casting shadows in an eerie dance on every day life….. Old astrologers in the formative years of horoscopy would have wondered and whirled around your poem! Beautiful…. Loved it A tenner :)
