Why? Poem by Madi Lynn

Why?

Paranoid
Second Guessing
My confidence getting low
All because of you
Unnecessary jealousy
Why are you preying on me?
He is not mine
Nor am I his
I don't want to even fathom
Why I'm doing this to myself
When i see you with her
Self-consciously, I check my hair,
My makeup,
Try to look good for you
And when you walk by with her
I ignore you
And pretend you're a meaningless stranger
Why?
Why am I jealous?
Why am I jumping to conclusions?
Why am I paranoid?
When you are not even mine.

As it turns out,
Perhaps I was right to be paranoid.
You most definitely were not mine,
I did end up getting Screwed.
