Why Bother Reading What I Pen Poem by Francis Duggan

Why Bother Reading What I Pen

Why bother reading what I pen if you feel I don't write well
If you feel I'm a poetaster one who creates doggerel
Or are you that sort of a person who needs one for to criticize
Reading stuff that one does not like seems time consuming and unwise
Only stuff they find interesting people should bother to read
And that you bother to read me I find amazing indeed
I've been told I'm a poetaster at writing I waste precious time
But I have a penning addiction and I've penned many a rhyme,
So much to write of in life and in Nature and though my stuff few bother to recite
One never short of subject matter there's always things on which to write
To me you do feel superior going by on what you do say
What you think of me is your business and with me that is quite okay
But if you feel my stuff is worth criticizing and some of my lines you recall
In your mind you must think not bad this seems quite good overall.
