Why Do I Poem by David Harris

Why does my heart feel so down
when my friends are not around?
Why do I feel the world has gone
when I feel weak instead of strong?
They say if we hold our friends close to our heart
they will never stray away,
so why is it I feel so lonely today.
My eyes get very cloudy
with tears I want to cry.
My heart feels so heavy
as if part of it has to die.
Why do I feel so alone
like a small child lost from home?
Why do I feel so sad
when I know I am not alone?
