Why Don't They Pray? Poem by Denis Martindale

Why Don't They Pray?

It's somewhat sad and somewhat strange
To hear some say GOD KNOWS!
And yet through doubts they seldom change
Despite their highs and lows.
Most of the time God sees the range
Of triumphs, tests and woes,
And asks, Why don't they pray?

It's somewhat odd when evil's near
With some folks ill-at-ease,
Aware of things that bring them fear
As if they'll never cease.
And yet the God some scoff and jeer,
Who's willing to bring peace,
Then asks, Why don't they pray?

It's somewhat hard to understand
Why prayer should get ignored,
When God improves on what they've planned
For them to get restored.
When healings He gives out by hand,
Why is it that our Lord
Still asks, Why don't they pray?
