Wilderness Poem by Simon Miller

Wilderness

I stand here
With nothing
Stripped of all
My humanity,
My words,
My acts,
I stand,
Humbled,
Broken,
And alone,
Abandoned by all.

Where Are You,
Who pledged to never leave?
Where did You go?
You always find me,
I cannot escape You,
So why do You run from me?

What am I worth?
A mortal alone,
In the wastelands of the heart.
Stuck here, forever,
Until you return.

So here I wait for You.
Cleanse me in these empty hills,
Blazing like fire.
Heal me like you did David so long ago
Heal me in the wild places.
Show me You in these empty, eternal plains.
