Will You Come Stay This While With Me 1997 Poem by Sandy Wood

Will You Come Stay This While With Me 1997

Will you come stay this while with me,
as for the journey I prepare,
we will take each other's hearts in hand
and speak of all the ways we care.

We will drink from vials called Hope and Love
if you but stay this while with me;
to wait with expectation
for when my Lord shall set me free.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I interviewed several hospice workers prior to writing and producing a video on the subject. The poem captured how many of the patients felt about the caregivers who came to love them in their final days.
