Window Candle Poem by Scott J. Shepard

Window Candle

Corners slam to each and every back street
and the days fall into their colder nights.
comfort freezes with its sudden decrease
eyes quietly drift far from the day's light.
An unbearing breath is a vapor shape
gasping for a candle stray from the wind.
None misplaced by the air, yet stays awake
so some child can sleep soundly with it.
Instead, half asleep the night lingers on;
a window candle lit like an omen.
Maintaining its spark till early next dawn
when carried away with some other poem.
And happen that candle find way to child,
when cold nights rest, the candle stays lighted
