Wings Poem by Justin For

Wings

If I grew wings tomorrow
I would wait outside your door
I would tell you all the things that I never could before
The wings are wings of courage see
I'm still not able to fly
But it wouldn’t matter because maybe you'd tell me… so do I
I couldn’t take you to the sky but I could try to bring it to you
So while you slept I would start to glue cotton clouds to rise within your view
I'd stick some golden stars up there while your dreams had just begun
And I'd hang an orange from a string to play the setting sun
Lastly I'd make a cardboard cut out of a dark cloud about to pour
I'd stay behind it until I knew you were waking up for sure
And when you opened your eyes I'd pop up from behind
Just to remind you that you can still smile on those days you’d rather hide
If I grew wings tomorrow
I'd wish that you would too
And with our wings together we might be able to rise up an inch or two
What does it matter if we can never reach the height of birds
If in our minds when we're together it's already occurred
