Winters Depths Poem by Jessica Millsaps

Winters Depths

When all feels gone,
And all seems lost,
And smiles seem so distant,

When all is done,
And the price has been paid,
And the lady of the land,
Well, down she's been laid,

And when time seems to stop,
Because we're all gone,
Locked away in our towers,
To protect our hearts,

And when something seems wrong,
And so much seems to be missing,
And you look around,
Yet you see not what you expect,

And the darkness seems eternal,
And the light just won't come out,
And you think you'll go mad,
Because of the chill,

And the frost and the ice eat away at your soul,
And soon that fire is gone,
And you're all that's left,
Yet slowly you're disappearing,
Vanishing, at best

Pain and Anguish take over
Your two very best friends,
No one else seems to know you better,
And your heart seems to end,

This is the very depth of Winter,
The soul that icily freezes,
Summer's gone for good,
Winter's all I've got left
No amount of heat shall thaw it,
No, this is the depths of winter,
In a vaccume so tight,
I just lost my breath,
For this is no longer happiness,
Nor pain, nor anger,
But numbness my friend.

Welcome, to my little world.
