Wishes Poem by Charlotte Andreski

Wishes

What we once wished for
we now regret
For what we once wanted
Was part of the past
All we want
is what we can't have

I once wished
Time would disappear
But now I wish,
I wish to the Gods, a God
That all the time I wasted, deflected
Would reappear

I once wished
I would force myself
But now I wish
I saw what others saw in me
And I had not destroyed myself
For myself

I once wished
I would be loved
But now I wish
I could love myself
And build off
of that foundation

I once wished
the past could be reversed
But now I wish
My wishes meant more
Because I mean so much less
and they were my only chance

What we once wished for
we now regret
For what we once wanted
Was part of the past
When we have what we want
what we wanted won't come back.
