With You, Without You Poem by courtney metcalf

With You, Without You

I feel on edge when I'm with you
Wild and crazy, doing stuff I'd never do
With you beside me I have no fears
I feel like I've known you for so many years
I couldn't dream of anything better
Living in the moment, I never questioned forever
But now I see it everyday
We'll love and love, 'til hair turns grey
A day without you and I can't breathe
I've lost my definition
I've lost part of me
I could wait on you forever
Another lifetime if I must
But it's hard being alone
All I am now is what I was
Right now I feel like crying every single minute
Right now I feel my life is dead because you are not in it
It's like everything and everyone else around me just keeps on going
As I stand here frozen, thoughts coldly blowing
Thoughts of our memories, thoughts of where we've been
Thoughts of happiness, thoughts of wondering when this pain is to end
I don't know what to do when you're not with me
Lye down and sleep just to feel more empty?
It's okay though, soon you'll be home
Not long after that, maybe even our own!
Please just promise
To never do this again
I can't be without my lover
He is my best friend
