Witnesses Poem by Luz EtchemendiGaray

Witnesses

They will carry my words
with them,
who will recite my verses,
and whose voices
shall have the art of healing those wounds
of body and soul
by pronouncing the magic symbols
that carry the power
of hope.

Thus is my desire
that they, the Witnesses,
will walk forth upon the Earth,
together with the water of baptism.

Upon reaching the boundaries of far lands
with their psalms
they will take with them the new good.
They, Witnesses,
illuminated by the stars
of the Orient,
will see the dawn
in other lands.
They will carry words,
sacred music -
They, the Witnesses,
those who will hide my heartbeats
within their garments.

Translated from Spanish to English by D.Ginhson with comment by S. Littleton.
