In the rhythm of the march, the drum beats loud,
As we bury our doubts beneath a shroud.
Tomorrow's regrets we dare no longer confess,
Within the chaos, we try to suppress.
Pushing down feelings, but they nonetheless rise,
Stolen happy endings, fleeting prize.
From the trenches, we chase elusive dreams,
As life's complexities resolve on the seams.
However without you, I falter inside the fray,
Struggling against walls that bar my way.
Crashing down with every attempt to break through,
In this relentless warfare, I am looking for rescue anew.
Each time, I subject myself to this plight,
For survival's sake, I need to take flight.
Protecting my flaws, hiding my fears inside the night,
Stuck inside the crossfire, looking for light.
Will you be there to halt my descent,
To witness my struggles, to provide ascent?
Resolve the lies, see through the disguise,
For as a toy soldier, incomplete, my spirit flies.
You had been my haven, my loved home,
Now shadows linger, where love once shone.
Bartering love for reputation, the final cost,
My broken wings grounded, goals for all time lost.
When did love's sweet embrace turn to sacrifice,
Leaving us stranded, bloodless as winter's ice?
Leaving behind the metropolis's glowing light,
Looking for solace inside the depths of night.
Act your age, they say, but what does it mean,
For a child with goals, a world unseen?
Watching for a savior in fields where we once flew,
As the city's lights whisper memories anew.
They talk of affection, enduring and bright,
Guiding us through the darkest night.
Hold fast to hope, allow your spirit take flight,
For in love's embody, we discover our might.
So cover up my flaws, my silent cries,
Inside the depths of darkness, where loneliness lies.
Caught within the center, as time marches on,
Will you be there, when all else is gone?
Break down the lies, dispel the deceit,
For as a toy soldier, I am incomplete.
But in your embrace, I locate my strength,
As together, we journey the length.
